Rituals over Routines
Monday is often the day we throw ourselves back into our working week, our routines and schedules, but let’s take a second to reflect on how we can take that 'yoga feeling' and incorporate it into our busy week.
For those of you who have been on this journey with me for a while, you will know how I love rituals. I often find transforming routine habits into rituals can have such a grounding impact.
A ritual becomes a sacred act, it connects us mindfully, a moment of reflection. I often refer to it during a yoga class; lighting that candle, setting that intention. Many of you have begun a 10 min daily yoga ritual that has had a beneficial impact on your week, but it can move far beyond the yoga mat.
How about that cup of coffee? Is it rushed and on 'the go’ or can you make it a ritual, a moment to slow down?
Before you start work, can you introduce a new ritual? I use my lovely wax melts or essential oils to initiate the start of my working day. Taking a deep breath to inhale the scent immediately helps shift my mindset.
